The Company noted that due to this deal it intends to strengthen its position in one of the main areas of the shelf.

The Norwegian oil and gas company Equinor has signed an agreement to acquire from Wellesley Petroleum a stake in five fields in the Kvitebjorn, Troll and Fram areas in the North Sea on the Norwegian continental shelf. This was reported on Wednesday in a press release on the company’s website.

“Thanks to this deal we are strengthening our position in one of our main areas on the Norwegian continental shelf,” said Kjetil Howe, Equinor Executive vice president, head of exploration and production in Norway.

The Troll and Fram areas, which are part of the Norwegian continental shelf, have become an important point of oil and gas exploration in recent years. In 2022, Equinor discovered a field there, whose reserves are estimated at 25-30 million barrels of oil and 4-8 million cubic meters of gas.
